About us
Verloren of Gevonden is the national platform where found items are published. Municipalities, police and depots work together to return lost belongings to their rightful owners.
Municipalities are legally responsible for registering and managing found and lost items. Through this platform they make their records searchable for everyone in one central place.
The data is updated continuously from the participating organisations, so the overview is always current.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people with low vision, people who use a screen reader or magnification, and people who use only a keyboard. That is why we build it to the international guideline for digital accessibility, WCAG 2.1 at level AA, and automatically check with every new version that the website still meets it.
In October 2026 we evaluated every page in all nine languages, including with a screen reader. According to this self-assessment, the website meets all criteria. The report explains how we tested and gives the result for each criterion.
